Design meets hi-tech. The Lighting Pad Lounge is much more than just a light source. You can use it to achieve more pleasant acoustics in your environment and create the lighting mood you wish for thanks to tunable white. That's what we call absolute design freedom.

LIGHTING ATMOSPHERE

Light temperature, mood setter. Daylight shows us how it should be – warm-white in the morning and evening, more neutral and cooler light at midday. A light spectrum that adapts to human biorhythms and ranges from 2,700 to 4,000 kelvins. That corresponds to the range from the warm-white of a light bulb to the neutral-white of a fluorescent tube.

Light makes an impression. The high-quality, especially developed lenses bundle light to a glare-free beam. They are integrated into the fleece and are barely visible. Light emission is therefore practically invisible. The light is not revealed until it hits the illuminated surface – for example the surfaces of dining or conference tables, coffee tables or counters – where it unfolds its surprising brightness and brilliance.

Light from an invisible source. The Lighting Pad Lounge also features indirect light, which is emitted via the moulded wood shell to illuminate the ceiling.

Up or down or both. Direct downlighting onto the table surface and indirect uplighting to brighten a room via the ceiling. Separate control and combined adjustment of the light colour – both are possible.

Harmoniously integrated. The indirect component has been recessed into the surface with a gentle contour, thus creating a striking design element.

The trick to glare suppression. The Lighting Pad Lounge's glare-free indirect lighting component is really unique. An especially developed parabolic reflector produces soft yet powerful indirect light.

Brilliant and powerful. The small high-performance LEDs integrated into the Pad only become visible upon closer inspection. They ensure the very high luminous efficacy and emit a brilliant, glare-free light that guarantees a great lighting atmosphere.

Playing with light. The gossamer-thin suspension wires interact with the indirect light component to conjure a dainty lighting effect on the ceiling.

CONTROL MADE EASY

Continuous height adjustment. The height of the Lighting Pad Lounge Vario can be continuously adjusted without the use of tools through a range of 150 cm. That means maximum flexibility above your table and adaptation to various uses in a matter of seconds: for a cosy dinner or pleasant games or crafts evening with maximum freedom of movement or even for a well-lit workplace for working from home.

Control the Lighting Pad Lounge in a variety of different ways:

• Control by App - With the Häfele Connect app, you can conveniently control your Lighting Pad Lounge with your smartphone or tablet.
• Sensor control - A discreet hand motion is all it takes, and the integrated sensor on the bottom allows you to switch the luminaire on and off, softly dim it or change the colour temperature.
• Wall switch - The optionally available Bluetooth wall switch can be placed anywhere in the room and enables convenient switching and dimming of the Lighting Pad Lounge.
• Remote control - The remote control enables direct regulation, e.g. of brightness or colour temperature. You can also specify groups of luminaires and individual scenarios.

LIGHT-ACOUSTICS FURNITURE – RETHINKING DESIGN

Nimbus luminaires are design objects that have always been manufactured with great care and craftsmanship. Wood is a new addition to our luminaire design. The challenge lay in meeting our standards of precision and quality when joining two organic materials – wood and fleece.

Hard shell, soft core. We selected two different materials for the Lighting Pad Lounge. Both equally visible and equally important to the design, joined together to form a design object with a lot more than just two sides.

Why wood? Moulded plywood has been a feature of furniture making since the Thonet brothers joined forces with Mart Stam to use it for the seat shell and backrest of their cantilever chair in order to make it more comfortable.
Following on from that, Alvar Aalto, Charles and Ray Eames, Eero Saarinen or Arne Jacobsen created design icons that were groundbreaking for design with moulded plywood.

Organic. Wood's colour, grain and haptic quality tell the story of its origin. Exposed to wind and weather, every tree grows differently and shows its individual character in its trunk. We express wood's warmth and softness in the formal idiom of the Lighting Pad Lounge through the gentle shaping and transitions. This is contrasted by the high degree of precision in processing and joining that we have honed to perfection in our experience of metal machining.

Inspired by bionics. The principle of a hard shell to protect a valuable core has been developed to perfection by evolution. However, the shell of the Lighting Pad Lounge not only protects the optical and electronic components inside, its spherical shaping of the bidirectionally bonded layers of wood also provides the necessary strength.

FASCINATING TECHNOLOGY OUTSTANDING DESIGN

Totally integrated. On the technical side, a great deal of know-how and technological expertise went into every single component. This includes: electronics with our well-balanced tunable white; optical elements for bundling and shaping light; continuous, balanced height adjustment; ingenious power supply in the suspension wires; wood shaping; Bluetooth integration and, last but not least, high-quality processing – that is more than just tinkering in the workshop. It is the high art of engineering.

No power cable
Just the bare essentials. The design of the Lighting Pad Lounge integrates the power supply for the LEDs into one of the 3 slim suspension wires. However, the height of the luminaire can still be continuously adjusted, the mechanism is concealed in the canopy.

Häfele Connect Mesh – the technology
The Häfele Connect Mesh app is based on the latest BLUETOOTH LOW ENERGY (BLE) mesh technology:

Future-proof and expandable for a long-lasting extensive and secure smart home system. The intuitive control system of the app is already in use on an international scale; advance development is ongoing and practical functions are constantly being added.

Vario
The Lighting Pad Lounge Vario features continuous height adjustment.
Using just one hand, the luminaire can be gently moved to any desired position and to suit any situation. The adjustment range is up to 150 cm.

Tunable White
The colour temperature can be continuously adjusted on the luminaire itself between 2.700 and 4.000 kelvins, depending on the desired lighting situation.

The acoustic fleece
Not only pleasant to the touch but also acoustically effective: the underside of the Lighting Pad Lounge acts as a sound absorber, thereby helping to create pleasant acoustics in the room.

Easy to install
The luminaire is fastened to the ceiling with a bayonet mechanism. The mounting plate acts at a drilling template and alignment aid.

Glare-free
The high-quality, especially developed lenses bundle light homogeneously to a glare-free beam. They are integrated into the fleece, are barely visible and ensure perfect illumination. When viewed from any angle, the downlighting is practically invisible at its source.

Well-balanced
Elegant and ingenious: The Lighting Pad Lounge practically hovers on its elegant wires, which are also used for the power supply.

Indirect light
Despite its luminous intensity, the indirect uplighting is perfectly glare-free when viewed from the side.

The especially developed parabolic reflectors are embedded in a light strip. This glows slightly, adding an extra flourish to the wood surface.
