Katowice is constantly redefining itself and unceasingly looking for its image. By juggling slogans and images, it slowly blurs the boundaries between the real and imagined city. Physical space and objective limitations cease to matter – the city gradually becomes a sum of views and slogan.Watching the Rawa River in the vicinity of the Katowice Market Square was a starting point for a concept of installation. This place, forming a gap allowing one to look behind the scenes of barnyard set design, exposes the superficiality of interventions made in the city. On the one hand, the artificial sunset co-creates the landscape of illusion; on the other hand, it is an auto-ironic commentary on the ubiquitous urban ersatzes.
