The compact form of the house, constructed from laminated timber, is clad in panels made of charred wood using the shou sugi ban technique. This minimalist, almost ascetic design simultaneously radiates expressive energy. The house may evoke associations with origami or overlapping archetypal, modern barns intersecting at various angles. From a distance, through a curtain of tree trunks, the structure resembles a spatial amalgamation of a group of buildings or a homestead, organically adapting to the space defined by the surrounding trees.
The facade, based on modular panels, subtly echoes the vertical rhythm of the trunks of the surrounding forest. This rhythm can also be interpreted as a musical notation – lines on paper meant to record the music of the forest. Elements breaking from this harmony, akin to musical notes, highlight the function of specific parts of the house. This approach is used to emphasize the main entrance, with its stepped overhang resembling a keyboard, and the wide glazing of the living area – a living room, dining area, and kitchen located on the ground floor.
The house is designed with a focus on symbiosis with nature, both in aesthetics and functionality. Its minimalist form not only enhances the unique character of the forested surroundings but also provides a comfortable and spacious interior.
